Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz<\/a> on Monday described Donald Trump\u2019s threat to deploy the U.S. military to attack \u201cthe enemy from within\u201d as anything but normal, calling the former president\u2019s words \u201cpretty damn un-American.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview broadcast Sunday<\/a>, Fox News\u2019 Maria Bartiromo asked Trump if Americans should be worried about the the potential of violence on Election Day from \u201coutside agitators.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bigger problem is the enemy from within,\u201d Trump replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have some very bad people, we have some sick people, radical left lunatics. And it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

During a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Walz said Trump\u2019s words were meant to serve as a threat to anyone opposing him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s talking about you,\u201d the Minnesota governor told the audience. \u201cHe\u2019s talking about someone who comes to a rally to express their love and their commitment to our democracy. Donald Trump sees that as an enemy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Walz added that he found the former president\u2019s comments \u201cpretty damn un-American,\u201d citing his own military service.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs someone who wore this nation\u2019s uniform proudly, as someone who now is the commander in chief of the Minnesota National Guard, the idea of sending U.S. military personnel against American citizens makes me sick to my stomach,\u201d Walz said. \u201cWe\u2019ll let the lawyers decide if what he said was treason, but what I know is it\u2019s a call for violence, plain and simple.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several former Trump administration officials have been sounding the alarm about the prospect of him securing another term in office.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one has ever been as dangerous to this country as Donald Trump,\u201d the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley told Bob Woodward<\/a> in an interview for the journalist\u2019s new book, \u201cWar.\u201d \u201cNow I realize he\u2019s a total fascist. He is the most dangerous person to this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Walz invoked Milley while emphasizing the extraordinary nature of Trump\u2019s comments on Fox News.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anyone wants to pretend that this is a normal conversation that Donald Trump is having, just dispel that,\u201d Walz said.<\/p>\n

Mark Esper, who served as defense secretary under Trump, told CNN\u2019s \u201cThe Source\u201d<\/a> that Trump\u2019s remarks appear consistent with past comments about using his second term to seek retribution on his political rivals.<\/p>\n
