The collection is related to<strong> <\/strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/judge-releases-prosecutors-evidence-against-trump-in-election-interference-case-2024-10\" data-analytics-product-module=\"body_link\" rel=\"noopener\" class>special counsel Jack Smith\u2019s 165-page bombshell motion<\/a> that included a trove of new evidence against Trump in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The documents released Friday are an appendix to the previously unsealed motion in which Smith and his team argued that Trump is not immune from criminal charges tied to his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The lengthy appendix includes heavily-redacted records that have been previously made publicly available.<\/p>\n<p>Parts of Trump\u2019s infamous phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger are redacted. The then-president\u2019s words were at the center of his post-Capitol riot impeachment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump and his supporters have long clung to his statement that protesters would be \u201cmarching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump spent most of the address pressuring Pence and \u201cweak\u201d Republicans \u2014 many of whom he called out by name \u2014 not to certify the results in front of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The House January 6 committee uncovered evidence that Trump promised to join protestors during his speech. However, the promise was ad-libbed and never included in the prepared written speech. Committee hearing. <\/p>\n<p>                          <span data-e2e-name=\"image-source\" itemprop=\"creditText\"><\/p>\n<p>                          Al Drago\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>                          <\/span><br \/>\n                                <\/figcaption><\/span><br \/>\n                          <\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"e4101ce5-7e96-4da0-ac6b-030fa5e476e3\" data-toc-id=\"e4101ce5-7e96-4da0-ac6b-030fa5e476e3\"><strong>Trump tweets<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>Smith\u2019s team included hundreds of tweets Trump published on his personal account or retweeted on the platform then known as Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The messages began shortly after Election Day 2020 and continued through the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Among the tweets included are Trump\u2019s now-famous December 2020 invitation for supporters to come to DC for a protest on January 6, promising it \u201cwill be wild!\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In another included January 6 tweet, Trump said, \u201cMike Pence didn\u2019t have the courage,\u201d after the vice president made clear he would certify Biden\u2019s victory. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Pence has since said that he feared for his life during the riot and that Trump never checked on his well-being.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump was permanently barred from Twitter two days after the riot. Elon Musk lifted the ban in November 2022, not long after he bought Twitter, now rebranded as X.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This wasn\u2019t the first special counsel\u2019s investigation to analyze Trump\u2019s tweets. Special counsel Robert Mueller repeatedly cited Trump\u2019s tweets in his report on Russian meddling in the 2016 election and whether the then-president obstructed the probe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Smith\u2019s team and Twitter fought a lengthy legal battle over a search warrant related to information about Trump\u2019s account, a fight that was initially sealed from public view. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Earlier this month, the Supreme Court declined to hear X\u2019s challenge. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>October 18, 2024: This story was updated to include more information from the released evidence.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge has released additional evidence against Donald Trump in his election interference case.
