There were two nuns on a journey. One was known as Sister Mathematical (SM), and the other as Sister Logical (SL). As twilight approached and they were still a considerable distance from the convent, SM turned to SL and inquired, “Have you noticed a man following us for the past thirty-eight and a half minutes? I wonder what his intentions are.”<\/p>\n
SL replied, “It’s logical; he likely wishes to harm us.”<\/p>\n
SM worriedly exclaimed, “At this rate, he’ll catch up to us in 15 minutes, at most. What can we do?”<\/p>\n
SL calmly proposed, “The only rational course of action is to increase our pace.”<\/p>\n
SM responded, “But that doesn’t seem to be working.”<\/p>\n
SL retorted, “Of course, it’s not working. The man, acting logically, has quickened his pace as well.”<\/p>\n
SM, growing more anxious, implored, “What should we do now? He will reach us in just one minute at this rate.”<\/p>\n
SL advised, “The only reasonable choice we have is to part ways. You go in one direction, and I’ll go in the other. He cannot pursue both of us.”<\/p>\n
The man decided to follow Sister Logical, and Sister Mathematical eventually made it to the convent. She anxiously awaited Sister Logical’s arrival. When SL did arrive, SM eagerly inquired, “Sister Logical, thank goodness you’re here! Please, tell me what happened!”<\/p>\n
SL calmly replied, “The only logical outcome occurred. The man couldn’t follow both of us, so he followed me.”<\/p>\n
SM sighed in relief, saying, “Yes, I see. But what happened next?”<\/p>\n
SL responded, “The only logical sequence of events unfolded. I ran as fast as I could, and he ran as fast as he could.”<\/p>\n
SM questioned, “And then?”<\/p>\n
SL answered, “The only logical result transpired. He caught up to me.”<\/p>\n
SM gasped, “Oh my! What did you do?”<\/p>\n
SL matter-of-factly stated, “The only logical action to take was to raise my dress.”<\/p>\n
SM inquired further, “And what did the man do?”<\/p>\n
SL replied, “He did the only logical thing, which was to lower his pants.”<\/p>\n
SM exclaimed, “Oh, no! What happened next?”<\/p>\n
SL quipped, “Isn’t it clear, Sister? A nun with her dress raised can run faster than a man with his pants down.”<\/p>\n
