The Taxi Driver Thought Passenger Was Dead
A taxi passenger gently tapped the driver’s shoulder to get his attention.
Startled, the driver let out a scream, lost control of the cab, narrowly avoiding colliding with a bus. The vehicle careened onto the curb, coming to a stop just inches away from a large plate glass window.
For a brief moment, an eerie silence hung in the cab, broken only when the driver finally spoke, his voice trembling, “Please, never do that again. You scared me out of my wits.”
The passenger, equally shaken, quickly offered an apology, explaining that he hadn’t anticipated such a strong reaction to a simple tap on the shoulder. In response, the driver said, “I’m truly sorry; it’s not your fault. You see, today is my very first day driving a cab. I’ve spent the last 25 years driving a hearse.”
