A Census Taker In A Rural Area
A census enumerator visited a farmhouse in a rural area and rapped on the door.
When an elderly woman answered, he inquired about the number and ages of her children.
She responded, “Well, let me think. We have the twins, Sally and Billy, who are eighteen. Then there’s the other set of twins, Seth and Beth, who are sixteen. And don’t forget the twins, Penny and Jenny, who are fourteen.”
Perplexed, the census taker interjected, “Wait a moment! Did you have twins every time?”
The woman chuckled and replied, “Oh, goodness, no. There were plenty of times we didn’t get anything at all.”.
