He Promised Me Work In Lagos, Na Trap I Enter (EPISODE 38)

EPISODE 38 – Another Call Ring

The phone rang late at night, a number I did not recognize. My heart skipped a beat — instinct told me this call could be danger, but also a chance. Lagos had taught me one thing: opportunities sometimes come wrapped in shadows.

I hesitated. My thumb hovered over the green button. Memories of him, the man who trapped me before, flitted through my mind. Fear surged, but I forced myself to breathe. “I no go let fear control me again,” I whispered.

I answered cautiously. The voice on the other end was calm, unfamiliar, but carried a sense of urgency. “Nkiru? I have something you need to see. Something that could change everything.”

I gripped the phone tighter. Questions raced: Who is this person? How do they know me? Is it help… or another trap? Lagos had taught me one rule above all: never trust blindly, but always be ready.

I looked around my small room. Ada was asleep, unaware of the tension. For a moment, I felt the weight of responsibility — not just for myself, but for the girl I was protecting.

The call ended suddenly, leaving a number on my screen. A simple message followed:
“Come alone. Midnight. Bridge near Lagos Island. Trust no one but yourself.”

I stared at the message long after the phone went silent. My mind raced with fear and curiosity. Something was coming. Something big. And Lagos, ever unpredictable, had made it clear: my story was far from over.

I sat back on my bed, heart pounding. A part of me feared what awaited, but another part — the part that had survived every trap, every shadow, every lonely night — whispered: “You ready. You stronger. You will face it.”
