An Old Woman From California Purchased A Timber
An elderly woman from California purchased a piece of timberland in Oregon. There was a large tree on one of the highest points in the tract. She sought to enjoy a scenic view of her land and decided to climb the towering tree.
As she ascended, she unexpectedly encountered a spotted owl, which became aggressive. In her haste to escape, she slid down the tree and ended up with numerous splinters in uncomfortable places. Experiencing considerable pain, she rushed to the nearest doctor.
The doctor attentively listened to her story and then advised her to enter the examination room so he could provide assistance. She patiently waited for three hours before the doctor finally returned.
The frustrated woman demanded, “What took you so long?” to which he replied, “Well, I had to obtain permits from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management before I could remove old-growth timber from a recreational area.”
